The Umbracle is a raised walkway, overlooking the whole CAC area, covering 17,500 square metres, which sits above the main car park for the CAC. It’s planted with 177 palm trees, 62 Bitter orange trees, 450 climbing plants which climb up the structure of the “roof”, and over 5,500 “carpet” plants such as Lotus, Agateas, Spanish Flags, and Fig Marigolds, and 100 aromatic plants such as Lavender and Rosemary.

Until May 2011, it houses an exhibition called “Among Dinosaurs” – 26 animatronic robots of various species of Dinosaurs, including a 14-metre tall Tyrannosaurus Rex. There is a €6/Adult, €4/child charge for the Dinosaur exhibit, which takes up half of the Umbracle area – but you can still visit the other half free of charge.
